Reuters (LSE: RTR, Nasdaq: RTRSY), the global information company, today announced a strategic alliance between Reuters DataScope, its complete reference and historical data solution, and GoldenSource, provider of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions to the securities and to the global banking industry.

The alliance provides financial services clients with a single, coherent solution to consolidate, integrate and standardize data in order to publish it across the enterprise.

Reuters DataScope comprehensive and accurate reference and historical data is fed into GoldenSource's EDM platform where the GoldenSource data model standardizes, stores, and aggregates the Reuters DataScope securities data. Using the combined Reuters DataScope/GoldenSource solution financial services firms can rationalize multiple data silos and make data accessible across all lines of business and geographical locations.

Glenn Strier, Account Manager for Partner & Global Alliances at Reuters America, said, "Data fragmentation is costly and inefficient and Reuters recognizes the need to provide quality, reliable data throughout the enterprise. Our alliance with GoldenSource allows us to distribute the unrivalled breadth and quality of Reuters DataScope products to a number of different systems within an organization."

Bob O'Brien, Vice President, Product Management at GoldenSource, said, "Reference data, historically a back office concern, is now also an important issue to the middle and front office. High quality, trustworthy data is crucial to monitor risk, increase operating efficiency, and meet the needs of a stringent regulatory environment. Our alliance with Reuters helps us to deliver an integrated reference data platform that reduces implementation time and complexity, while delivering accurate, timely reference data across the organization. This is the foundation to achieving an effective enterprise data management strategy."

The initial implementation of Reuters DataScope and GoldenSource will offer clients a select cross-section of Reuters DataScope's equities, fixed income, static and price data, as well as unique identifiers. Additional data types - customer, counterparty, and positions, transactions - can be added to meet customer needs. A major U.S. investment bank is currently in production with the integrated Reuters DataScope/GoldenSource solution and another is in the advanced stages of implementation.

Reuters also announced today that it has entered into a strategic alliance between Reuters DataScope and international data management solutions provider AIM Software.

Reuters DataScope is providing its comprehensive real-time and historical reference data for equities and fixed income via AIM Software's proven data management platform GAIN DataDesktop, which offers clients a wide range of functions for the automatic processing of financial market data. Built on the foundation of the expandable GAIN framework, GAIN Light Reuters is the basic version for the processing of Reuters data, acting as an inexpensive entry point into reference data management.

Caroline O'Shaughnessy, Third Party Channel Director for Reuters DataScope, EMEA, said: "AIM Software's state-of-the-art data management platform, combined with the unrivalled breadth and quality of the Reuters DataScope service, offers clients a truly scalable out-of-the-box solution for managing reference, pricing and corporate actions data across all asset classes.
