Moneris Solutions, one of North America's largest electronic transaction processors, today announced the delivery of an end-to-end wireless payment processing solution that allows merchants to accept credit and debit card transactions virtually anywhere at anytime.
Moneris' comprehensive wireless point-of-sale solution consists of compact mobile hardware, software, and wide area wireless network access. The offering includes Lipman's NURIT 8000, which is a compact handheld terminal powered by APRIVA's Intellegent POS Gateway Service. The terminal includes an easy-to-load thermal printer, a touch screen, and built-in PIN pad. The wireless terminal is backed by a broad coverage map through AT&T/Cingular's General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Network. GPRS offers merchants widespread network coverage that supports data-intensive applications and validates transactions in as little as four seconds.
The sophisticated offering supports customizable applications for mobile merchants, courier and home delivery services, taxi and transportation services, law enforcement agencies or field representatives, moving companies, and pay at the table venues. This means that mobile professionals can leverage Moneris' wireless offering to take advantage of card present, swiped rates at the point of sale.
Wireless payment processing solutions are becoming increasingly important as the number of mobile workers continues to grow. According to payments industry newsletter, The Nilson Report, wireless POS terminals will account for nearly 30 percent of the total POS terminal market by 2008.
Moneris' wireless offering includes the following point of sale features:
- All of the industry standard functionality including Sale, Offline, Authorize, Stored Sale,Void, Refund, Batch, Verify and List.
- Extensive real-time reporting capabilities including standard summary and detailed batch reports as well as card type, invoice, operator, totals, and transaction types.
- Powerful Store and Forward feature enabling merchants to store, track and process orders even when out of coverage.
- Advanced protocols provide reliable delivery, data compression, and security.
- Tracking each transaction from the moment it is created on the handset all the way through the network to the merchant processor and back.
- Dedicated 24/7-customer service.
