Neovest, a direct market access and pre-trade analytics technology provider, recently hired Tom Van Riper to serve as its Chief Operating Officer.

As a 15-year veteran in the investment software industry, Mr. Van Riper is a pioneer in the electronic trading space with vast experience in market data, trading systems, algorithms, and program trading. His broad understanding of global hedge funds, institutions, and integrated houses is a significant complement to Neovest's global strategies for the institutional buy and sell side communities.

Mr. Van Riper also contributes an in-depth knowledge of alternative execution brokerage offerings, including call markets, ECNs, electronic capital commitments, and expert systems. His industry savvy will enhance Neovest's product development and fine tune its business model to reflect recent changes in the trading industry.

Bryce Byers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Neovest, stated: "Tom's experience and vision of where the business is going makes him an invaluable asset to Neovest, especially in determining how best to position Neovest in national and world trading technology markets."

Mr. Van Riper recently held the position of Head of Sales for the Program Desk and the Electronic Trading Services Group at Banc of America. Prior to working with Banc of America, he was President of Vector Partners, a quantitative agency broker dealer that specialized in the design and implementation of algorithmic program and block trading strategies. Vector Partners was later acquired by Banc of America Securities. Mr. Van Riper has also been a Senior Vice President and Global Head of Sales for Instinet and a Managing Director at Bear Stearns, responsible for the re-design and deployment of their program trading system to top institutional and hedge fund clients.

He started his career working in New York with Integrated Analytics Corporation (IAC). IAC created Marketmind, a real-time, rule-based trading expert system, which was converted into Quantex upon IAC's acquisition by Investment Technology Group. Mr. Van Riper graduated from Saint Norbert College in 1986 and holds series 7, 63, 24, and 55 licenses.

Mr. Van Riper is based in New York and directly oversees Neovest's Account Management, Business Development, Marketing, and Sales teams. His short-term software initiatives include enhancing Neovest's futures and options trading capabilities and leveraging Neovest's impressive order execution and product breadth to enhance Neovest's international offering.
