BPC Banking Technologies, the leading provider of Open System e-payment solutions for the global financial industry, announced that Interbanking Systems (DIAS) S.A., Greece has gone live on SmartSwitch, the switching and routing solution within the SmartVista suite.
The migration project took only six months. The deal was inked with the help of BPC partner B&R Outsourcing Services S.A, Greece.
SmartSwitch replaced DIAS' legacy solution that was being sunsetted and fell short of the company's business and technical requirements, needing long lead times for enhancements, incurring a high TCO and lacking flexibility. The Greek payment market is dynamic and expanding rapidly and DIAS needed a modern payments solution that would allow it to provide competitive services to its client banks and meet the needs of future expansion. BPC's SmartSwitch was selected after a competitive bid process including a number of other international software vendors and met DIAS' demanding expectations for functionality, performance, scalability and low TCO.
DIAS provides processing services to the great majority of Greek banks and has 20 clients running 7,400 ATMs throughout Greece. In addition, DIAS supports and processes for a network of POS devices located across the 180 Ministry of Finance tax offices in Greece. The terminals are used for tax payments being made by cards issued by the Greek banks.
SmartSwitch provides on-line interfaces to the terminal devices and be supporting all authorization and routing across the ATM and POS networks. SmartSwitch features predefined interfaces to the world's leading ATMs and POS equipment vendors, to other switching solutions and to all international payments brands, as well as domestic and local payment networks—making implementation simple and straightforward in any environment. SmartSwitch also interfaces to host systems and communicates to other types of external systems such as payment service providers. Due to the advanced architecture of SmartSwitch the replacement of DIAS' existing legacy system was completed in six months.
"Over the last 24 months BPC has been selected as the solution of choice for a growing number of national payment processing platforms and we are proud to have been selected for Greece's national switch. These implementations form a critical component in the nations' payments infrastructure and are testament to SmartVista's ability to support mission critical, large scale payment environments," commented Vasily Grigoriev, CEO BPC Banking Technologies. "Like all the SmartVista solutions, SmartSwitch is a modern Open Systems solution purpose built to integrate seamlessly with complex IT infrastructures and at DIAS we were able easily to meet the very aggressive timelines for the project."
"As a service company to the Greek banking community, it is very important that we have a flexible, low cost and highly available processing platform. SmartVista met all our business and technological requirements and critically BPC delivered on its promise to replace our legacy application before its sunset," said Nicolaos Alexopoulos, Managing Director and General Manager of DIAS. "We are looking forward to drawing on the functional strengths of SmartVista to offer our banking clients expanded services in the future."
