Forty Two Objects Limited, the new-generation technology provider of business-responsive applications and components for a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), today announced its strategic partnership with BEA Systems, Inc., a world leader in enterprise SOA infrastructure software.

By combining 42 Objects' and BEA's product offerings, financial institutions worldwide can realise tangible business benefits within an SOA environment. The joint product offering provides an integrated SOA application environment that incorporates domain specific components for the financial services sector. These components are built to a level of granularity that means each application can be more easily tailored to meet specific business and user requirements. The software partnership will be further developed through the BEA Financial Services Component Club, of which 42 Objects is named as founding member.

Forty Two Objects' "ontology" design approach to application development enables financial institutions to build business services cost effectively within a significantly reduced time frame. Known as Service-Oriented Business Applications (SOBAs), 42 Objects' robust and reusable range of applications can be quickly choreographed using the BEA Business Process Management (BPM) and portal technology to deliver the business content for financial institutions to leverage new-generation technical infrastructures, including the BEA WebLogic Platform.

Forty Two Objects' library of highly-functional business components are pre-integrated within BEA WebLogic. Collectively, 42 Objects and BEA deliver high and early return on investment, improved operational efficiency and significantly reduced development costs and time to market.

Martin Hewish, Financial Services Partner Manager, BEA, says: "Forty Two Objects' ground-breaking approach to application development, with its financial services focus, should play a significant role in enabling financial institutions to maintain maximum business agility and realise the benefits of an SOA environment. By partnering with leading-edge companies like 42 Objects, BEA's financial services client base should be well equipped to stay ahead of competition, adapt to change and deliver products to market more rapidly."

Jeremy Wood, CEO, Forty Two Objects, says, "While financial institutions and technology solutions providers alike agree that legacy systems are not about to disappear, strategic players know their need to provide delivery today whilst looking at the road ahead. The BEA WebLogic Platform provides leading financial institutions with the Portal, BPM, Integration and Application Server technologies required to build and maintain a 21st century technology infrastructure. Now, with industry standards, such as XML, J2EE, .NET, SOAP, WSDL and BPEL, coming of age, the shared goals and product offerings of companies such as BEA and 42 Objects are making the SOA vision a reality."
