MasterCard has announced the appointment of Paul Trueman as Head of Marketing for the UK and Ireland Division.
Trueman joins MasterCard on 13 June and will be based at the divisional headquarters in London's Canary Wharf, reporting to Hany Fam, President of MasterCard UK & Ireland.
Trueman was most recently Group Marketing Director UK and Ireland for LG Electronics, the Korean consumer electronics company, where he led corporate brand and product marketing across five divisions, encompassing both B2B and B2C channels. Before joining LG, Trueman spent 14 years in the FMCG sector working for Cadbury Schweppes and Mars Inc., where he held roles in marketing and innovation.
Hany Fam commented on the appointment: "I'm delighted to welcome Paul to MasterCard during an exciting period of transition. We're working with both our traditional customer financial institutions and new partners - such as retailers and telcos - to get closer to the consumer and make their lives easier. With his background, we 're confident that Paul is perfectly placed to help us leverage our insights and innovations to create new marketing propositions to surprise and delight consumers."
Trueman added: "I'm pleased to be joining MasterCard because we share a common vision about putting the consumer at the heart of every proposition. I'm looking forward to bringing my experience to bear at a time when MasterCard is looking at new ways to engage and reward consumers - both through innovative technologies that improve the consumer experience, such as mobile payments, and partnerships that speak to a broad range of passions, including sport, music, arts and culture."
Trueman graduated with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. He is married, with two young daughters.
