Sword Insurance, the leading provider of web-based product distribution solutions to the property and casualty insurance industry, announced this week it has been selected by Safety Insurance to assist in developing its mobile portal strategy. Safety Insurance is a leading provider of property and casualty insurance in Massachusetts.
Safety Insurance measured the rapid adoption of smartphones and tablets among its policyholders and sought to be on the leading edge of insurance carriers offering consumer self-service on such mobile devices. Sword Insurance was selected to help develop a strategy and implement software solutions for mobile apps and mobile web implementations of First Notice of Loss reporting and agent finder features on both the iPhone and Android platforms. Safety has already used Sword Insurance for agency interface and comparative rating system integrations.
"A mobile strategy is part of our overall long-term business plan," said Steve Varga, Senior Director of Management Information Systems at Safety Insurance. "Choosing the right partner to launch our effort was extremely important to us and Sword Insurance combines strategic thinking, good product teams and a proven delivery record for us. Lots of companies know apps, but few know how to deliver insurance apps."
"Whether carriers are on our AgencyPortalTM distribution framework or not, our mobile development team can help them build superb mobile capabilities for their producers, staff, and policy holders alike" said Michael Albert, VP of Research and Development at Sword Insurance. "We are thrilled to continue to help Safety stay on the cutting edge of mobile technology in insurance."
The iPhone application was rolled out in mid-April. The Android application will be available at the end of Q2 2011.
