Aconite, a leading provider of software and consulting services for managing business applications on chips in smart cards, tokens or mobiles, today announced that it has appointed Mike Vaselenak to spearhead product localization and marketing of its EMV (Chip and PIN) solutions in the Canadian market.

Mike's understanding of this market combined with Aconite's proven EMV expertise offers banks, credit unions and service-providers support and solutions that will make their migration to and ongoing management of EMV quicker, easier and lower risk.

A specialist in product management and business development for payments and transactional systems with three decades of experience, Mike has defined payments and e-business strategies for leading Canadian, U.S. and international corporations as well as federal and provincial governments. He is also a member of ACT Canada's Mobile Payments Strategic Leadership Team. Mike's previous roles have included strategy, planning, requirements definition, architecting, specification and procurement support for e-business transactional systems. His experience in the Canadian payments market also includes roles as Director of Product Management at Everlink Payment Services Inc. (a third-party processor majority owned by FIS that provides POS and ATM acquiring and issuer processing services to many Canadian banks and credit unions); Vice President, Business Development at Pay Linx Corporation (provider of services and infrastructure enabling the replacement of cash and cheque payments with electronic payment cards); and Director, Alliances and Payment Instruments at Wireless Payment Services LLP (a joint venture, now called Enstream, by Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless and TELUS Mobility, facilitating secure wireless payment transactions).

Aconite's EVP, Sales and Marketing, Patrick Regester said: "Aconite sees Canada as an important market where EMV migration has taken place in part but where some issuers are dissatisfied with pre-migration advice and post-migration implementation, management and return on investment. We feel we can bring valuable insights from the experience we have gained in UK and Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America to assist those who have not yet moved to EMV and, for those that have mmigrated, provide solutions enabling a better business proposition and a better cardholder experience".

Mike's appointment reflects a further commitment to the Canadian market place where we plan to build on long term partnerships with clients and technology partners. Mike and the Aconite team are ideally qualified to show the market the benefits of Aconite's low risk, fast track and award winning EMV and smart card management solutions".

Mike Vaselenak added "Aconite has a great reputation founded on its record of delivering EMV and smart card consultancy and software solutions around the world. Its clients range from small banks to some of the world's largest and include processors and transit operators, graphically demonstrating the flexibility and scalability of its solutions. I am very pleased to be joining the Aconite team at a time when there is such a great match between Aconite's capabilities and the Canadian market's needs". Mike can be contacted by 'phone on +1 905 460 7754 or by email to mike.vaselenak@aconite.net.
