IPC Systems, a leading provider of voice and electronic trading communications to the world's top financial services firms, is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Petrie as Vice President of Network Operations for the Europe, Africa and Middle East (EMEA) region.

In this leadership role, Petrie will be responsible for driving network growth and expansion strategy. This includes extending the network reach to new and emerging markets in regions, as well as deploying and managing IPC's Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) and Electronic Connectivity Services (ECS) to further augment customer trading operations in the region. IPC's on-net community, now 4,000 strong, includes direct connectivity to more than 1,000 financial firms in EMEA and over 40 Exchanges globally. With recent core network upgrades including San Francisco and Toronto, and future announcements expected on Frankfurt, London and Paris, IPC's high-speed, fully restorable optical network provides connectivity globally from its POPs in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Petrie brings with him a wealth of industry and operational experience in both telecommunications and the financial services sector. He joins IPC from COLT Telecommunications, where he was head of product and solutions services, leading new service introduction including implementation of complex network designs, transition services and strategic product introductions. Prior to this, he was the Global Head of Network Services for eSpeed, the electronic trading platform of BGC.

"IPC has an incredible reputation for supporting the global financial community's communications requirements," said Petrie. "I am excited about the opportunity to join IPC's global leadership team responsible for transforming trading communications. As more firms seek direct and resilient routes for latency sensitive trading applications and business continuity, I am confident IPC has a compelling service portfolio to help them succeed."

Petrie will be based in IPC's EMEA headquarters in the heart of the London financial centre, working closely with Graham Wade, who joined the company at the beginning of the year as VP of Network Sales, EMEA.
