Hawaii State Federal Credit Union today announced it has selected Open Solutions' DNA, an enterprise-wide core relational platform, for its processing needs.

Open Solutions is a leading provider of integrated enabling technologies for financial service providers throughout the United States, Canada and other international markets.

Established in 1936, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union has more than 75,000 members, $1.1 billion in assets and eight branches, including 40 shared-branch locations through the Hawaii Network of Shared Branching for Credit Unions. The credit union serves all islands of the state and provides a full range of financial services to state, city and county employees and their immediate families. According to the credit union, combining its level of commitment to excellent service with Open Solutions' innovative product lineup will enable the credit union to provide enhanced member service to the state of Hawaii, and provide a competitive advantage in today's market.

"Our number one priority is to serve. We are looking for nothing less than a positive impact on our members and implementing Open Solutions' DNA system will enable us to improve operational efficiencies and build more robust product developments directly for the benefit of our members," said Hawaii State FCU President Deborah Kim. "After an in-depth and thorough one-year core assessment process with our entire core team, it was determined that Opens Solutions' DNA was the best fit for our size and goals for growth. It was a collaborative effort to take into account all aspects of the system and everyone it would affect. The voting was unanimous."

As a result of this process, Hawaii State FCU developed an institution-wide promotion to create a logo and internal branding campaign for the conversion to DNA. This campaign will take the credit union through the 2010 conversion and into 2012. One winning idea was chosen out of thirty-eight submissions and was then introduced at a conversion kickoff event that announced the project. All 200-plus employees were in attendance and provided full staff commitment to Kim. Both the logo and brand design highlight the institution's goal of "people helping people."

Enhanced by Open Solutions' advanced open platform and using .NET technology, DNA capitalizes on the strength of the company's unique universal data model and design and its client-centric processes, while greatly enhancing workflow, flexibility and productivity. Built on a powerful, centralized Oracle® relational database, the solution provides the flexibility necessary for running a service-oriented financial institution. Available as an in-house or outsourced solution, it helps credit unions streamline both front- and back-office processes and creates a centralized view of customers, employees and business partners. Hawaii State Federal Credit Union will implement DNA in an outsourced environment through Open Solutions' world-class data center.

"Open Solutions' innovative product lineup will increase our operational efficiencies from the front line to the back office," continued Kim. "As a partner, they have demonstrated the flexibility of their solution and willingness to collaborate. We now have the opportunity to offer more leading-edge products and services to our members." In addition to DNA, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union also selected Open Solutions' Velocity loan origination; financial accounting suite (FAS); tMagic teller capture with item processing; digital document solutions; Best Practices consulting; and cView, the company's relationship management solution, which offers real-time, two-way integration with DNA to help Hawaii State FCU to interact with customers and sustain and grow valuable customer relationships.

"Hawaii State Federal Credit Union is a distinguished and well-established credit union that provides a wealth of services to its members," said Louis Hernandez, Jr., chairman and CEO of Open Solutions. "We are proud to work with them as they continue to provide the exceptional service that the state of Hawaii has come to expect for more than 70 years. We look forward to a productive and lasting relationship with Hawaii State Federal Credit Union well into the future."
