Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that it is commencing product sales to Italy's card payment sector, effective immediately.

The action follows the successful certification of Hypercom's Optimum T4200 countertop payment terminals by Consorzio Bancomat, the leading card association representing the interests of Italy's banks. Hypercom has also established and certified a secure facility for loading keys and digital certificates, as well as for product maintenance and repair.

Hypercom is one of the first high security electronic payment and digital transaction solutions providers to achieve compliance with Consorzio Bancomat's stringent new EMV CB 2 standard.

"With the Optimum T4200, we are bringing high speed, high performance countertop terminals to Italy's payment processors, allowing retailers to expedite the fast and secure transmission of vital transaction data," said Kazem Aminaee, President and Managing Director, Hypercom Southern EMEA. "Achieving this stringent security standard with our countertop terminals represents an important expansion of our footprint in the Italian market. We are committed to bringing Italy's processors and merchants our state-of-the-art payment products, and can begin volume shipments before the end of the year."

Hypercom's Optimum T4200 has been widely deployed throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa, and is highly-rated by customers for its fast and secure IP-based transactions. For additional product information, please click here.
