National Payment Card Association (NPCA), a provider of financial processing services, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent 7,793,829 covering certain methods of carrying out Open Loop ACH-based decoupled debit transactions with a card holder, at a retail site.

"Patent 7,793,829 includes claims in connection with our technology that enables consumers to effect retail payments by way of a card and the Automatic Clearing House (ACH) system," said Joe Randazza, NPCA CEO and President.

NPCA also owns patent applications applicable to other methods of effecting ACH-based decoupled debit transactions with a card.
