StreamBase Systems, the leader in high-performance Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology, announced today at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (Sifma) conference in New York, that it is collaborating with Nvidia, inventor of the graphics processing unit (GPU), to offer the best-of-breed computing capability for capital markets.
StreamBase's CEP technology allows for the building, testing, and deployment of trading systems in weeks versus months for traditional technologies. Firms whose traders and quants want to rapidly test out new trading strategies against large amounts of historical data and execute sophisticated analytics against real-time data can now combine the power of StreamBase's CEP engine together with NVIDIA Tesla GPUs to further accelerate the time from idea to selection and deployment.
"When you're talking about trading where microseconds make a difference, the extra hops within the server can make a difference," said Kevin McPartland, Senior Analyst at TABB group. "We are seeing renewed interest in GPU technology not only for options, but also for multi-asset analytics. Both prop shops and high-frequency traders should look at GPU technology to accelerate the idea, testing, selection and deployment cycle for new trading strategies."
"The size and complexity of trading data continues to increase and our solutions for these markets provide many advantages," said Jerry Chen, Senior Manager for Financial Services at NVIDIA. "By using NVIDIA Tesla GPUs, firms are able to improve their performance while providing scalability - more importantly, they can achieve this with fewer racks of servers, reducing floor space and power requirements and lowering procurement and operation costs."
"Advanced technologies in data processing and computing are taking Wall Street to the next level," said Richard Tibbetts, CTO at StreamBase. "This partnership underscores the technical revolution in the financial industry - StreamBase provides the real-time data management and authoring tools that make NVIDIA Tesla GPUs accessible to traders, quants, and programmers. Our customers can focus their intellectual effort in developing unique trading strategies in the dynamic marketplace."
