ACI Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACIW), a leading international provider of electronic payments software and solutions, today announced that Smartlink Card Services Joint Stock Company (Smartlink) is using BASE24-eps®, ACI's market-leading software for online payments processing, on IBM Power Systems infrastructure. Smartlink is one of the largest national retail payment switch companies in Vietnam, and is ACI's first customer in the country.

Smartlink is using BASE24-eps as a shared payment switch between its member banks, and to connect to Vietnam's other national switch. This enables card holders to use any ATM, without being restricted to their own bank's ATM network. As a result, card holders in Vietnam have easy access to cash wherever they are through more than 10,000 ATMs across the country.

BASE24-eps was implemented to replace the bank's legacy payments switch. Smartlink selected ACI and BASE24-eps so that the switch would be in the strongest position to meet current market demands and roll out new functionality and customer services easily and cost-effectively. BASE24-eps will enable Smartlink to roll out direct ATM driving, POS driving, and connections to Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and Diners Club in the future.

Nguyen Tu Anh, CEO and general director at Smartlink said, "Smartlink is committed to customer service and I wanted to make sure we had the market-leading payment processing tool to future-proof our network and deliver the best possible service to our member banks. ACI's presence in Asia Pacific, both in terms of existing customers and on-the-ground support, made the company the obvious choice for this investment. I was very pleased with ACI's delivery of the project, which went live in only five months."

Ralph Dangelmaier, president of global markets and services at ACI Worldwide said, "The project to implement BASE24-eps at Smartlink was a significant undertaking for the organization, but one that is already delivering benefits. Financial institutions, processors and retailers around the world are seizing the opportunity to implement flexible processing platforms, built on the latest technology, to improve customer service and deliver the best possible transaction processing volumes, and Smartlink is leading the way in Vietnam. We look forward to working with the team as they add new business services."
