McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and MasterCard Worldwide today announced that the airport now accepts MasterCard PayPass contactless payments in its major parking lots.

This implementation will allow travelers to simply tap their MasterCard PayPass contactless cards or devices at exit lanes, rather than fumble for cash, to pay for their parking. In 2009, McCarran International Airport was the seventh-busiest airport in North America, serving more than 40 million passengers.

MasterCard PayPass implementation helps reduce airport congestion by streamlining parking payments, thereby improving the airport experience for travelers. MasterCard PayPass will be accepted in 64 locations, including 31 pay stations and 33 entry/exit lanes at the airport's four main parking lots.

"MasterCard PayPass acceptance at McCarran International Airport will make traveling easier and faster for the millions of people that pass through the airport each year," said Cathleen Conforti, senior vice president, Global PayPass, MasterCard Worldwide. "Consumer preference for convenient electronic payment methods continues to grow, and with 'Tap & GoTM' payments, travelers have a quick and easy alternative to cash when paying for parking."

MasterCard PayPass is a fast and easy cashless payment option that enables drivers to pay for parking quickly, simply by tapping their PayPass-enabled MasterCard card or device on a specially equipped PayPass reader. The readers will continue to accept traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards and work with all payment card providers.
