Leslie Stretch, vice president and managing director for the past two years, has been promoted to senior vice president, Global Alliances, Partners and Channel based at the company's corporate headquarters in Menlo Park, California, USA, effective immediately.

Leslie joined Sun from Oracle nine years ago and has built a team that delivers significant growth to put the UK & Ireland subsidiary at the top of the performance league within Sun. His new role provides him an opportunity to magnify that success worldwide in a role Sun sees as critical to its future.

Trudy Norris-Grey joins Sun UK & Ireland from Oracle UK where since joining them in 2000 has driven significant change to grow new business and go-to-market partnerships as their vice president of Alliances and Channels. Proven ability to drive change and partnering along with her knowledge and experience gained from working at a senior level within Oracle, Sun's closest software partner enabled Norris-Grey to head a shortlist of strong candidates.

Prior to joining Oracle Trudy was marketing director at Kodak Professional, Europe Middle East and Africa and prior to that held a number of senior management positions at Digital UK & Ireland.

Leslie Stretch, comments: "I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to contribute to a new era for Sun Microsystems as we simplify and consolidate to a single "Alliance Sales Organisation" that can truly leverage the tremendous support and intellectual capital contained within our partners globally. This comes at a time when our competitors are abandoning some of their most loyal partners and even worse have begun competing with them for systems integration and business process work.

Leslie went on to say: "I will miss the people at Sun UK & Ireland, it is a committed and talented customer-focused team, I will also miss our customers and partners many of whom I have long standing relationships with. In Trudy Norris-Grey we have selected somebody with exactly the right blend of capabilities supported by a proven track record to take Sun's UK & Ireland business forward to new heights."

Trudy Norris-Grey, comments: "Sun is a fabulous company. A company which puts customers, partners and employees right at the heart of its thinking. I am proud and excited to have the opportunity to lead the UK and Ireland organisation. The management team has already delivered six consecutive growth quarters and I am looking forward to working together to sustain that growth as we deliver exceptional and innovative solutions and services to the market place."
