3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) today announced that the Central Bank of the UAE will improve the performance, availability and reliability of its LAN infrastructure with a new H3C® enterprise networking solution from 3Com.

3Com will create a secure distributed 10Gb network architecture for maximum connectivity and stability, based on H3C S7506E switches at the core for maximum availability, H3C S5820 Flex Chassis switches at the distribution layer for resilience and flexibility, and compact stackable H3C S5500E switches with IRF® (Intelligent Resilient Framework) technology at the edge for the creation of a resilient virtual switching fabric. The network will be centrally managed via H3C IMC (Intelligent Management Center) with NAC solution modules, and supported by 3Com next-business-day maintenance services.

"We chose 3Com's H3C solution because it offered innovative technologies and applications to support our business," says Bob Thomson, Chief Manager- IT projects, Central Bank UAE. "We were impressed generally by the performance, reliability and availability of the H3C solution, and specifically by its unique features such as IRF technology for easy network management, active/active switching, and IMC NAC for network security. In addition, the whole network is now efficiently managed centrally through a single, open operating system. We expect the H3C solution to enable us to provide better connectivity and applications support for our users."

"These innovative, high performance H3C enterprise networking solutions from 3Com use the latest networking technologies to provide simple manageability and maximum availability," says Ron Sege, 3Com president and COO. "We have extensive experience in building leading enterprise networks for some of the largest financial institutions in the world and we are proud to take our expertise and help Central Bank UAE build its next-generation network."
