Mellon Technologies ships GPS trackers for Greek ATMs

Mellon Technologies and Easy Systems bring to the Greek financial market an integrated satellite tracking solution for ATMs.

The proposed solution is compatible with all ATMs and aims to avert potential robbery attempts, but mainly to track stolen terminals.

More specifically, the GPS tracker device is being installed in the ATM, recording and transmitting in real time its geographical position. On top of the location monitoring functionality, the device has temperature and movement sensors. If there is a change in an ATM's status (change of coordinates, temperature or shock detection), the GPS tracker device sends multiple alarms to predefined recipients.

The devices operate with all ATM types, regardless of manufacturer, and allow for extended customization in order to address the different needs that result from the diverse locations and conditions of installation and operation. To that extend, some of the installations planned by Mellon Technologies concern ATMs that operate in ships.

"According to recent data published by the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), physical attacks to ATMs in Europe increased in the period between September 2008 and August 2009 by 32%. This rate exceeds even that of skimming attacks, making imperative for banks to protect their self service network from robberies and physical attacks," comments Alexandra Poursandiou, Business Unit Manager, Mellon Technologies. "The GPS solution that we have tailored specifically for banks together with Easy Systems, complements perfectly the portfolio of Mellon Technologies for secure transactions at the ATM, protecting the assets of both the bank and its customers."

"Easy Systems has proven experience in the provision of custom business solutions for satellite tracking, monitoring and managing of assets and fleets, cooperating with leading international vendors and utilizing tools that are based on tested technologies and platforms. In Mellon Technologies we have found the ideal partner to cover the needs of the SE European financial market. Both the device and the monitoring platform of our solution have been customized specifically for ATM networks," notes Anastasios Ioakim, President and Managing Director of Easy Systems S.A.
