FIX Protocol Limited (FPL) has announced that Martin Koopman of Cameron Systems has been elected to the Co-Chair position of the Americas Regional Committee and will be working alongside John Goeller of Lehman Brothers.
Martin succeeds Nicole Goudey-Rigger of Implementation Solutions, who has served in this post for almost 2-1/2 years.
Mr. Koopman is currently the Commercial Director at Cameron Systems and is responsible for company strategy and key accounts, with a focus on North America. Martin founded the North American office of Cameron Systems and has been fundamental to the growth of the company over the last four years. Martin has been involved with over 100 FIX deployments across equity, fixed income, FX and derivatives. He also has deep experience working with buy side, sell side and vendors, both in North America and in Europe.
Prior to Cameron Systems, Martin was a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, where he consulted to a number of global banks on strategy and major IT projects. Martin has also held management positions at a number of Australian and New Zealand companies.
Within FPL, Martin has been most active on the Global Fixed Income Committee, and has spoken at numerous industry events about FIX for fixed income. Mr. Koopman stated, "I am honored to accept this position and will canvass and listen to the members to see how we can best move the committee's agenda forward. Some initiatives that I would like to further push include expanding the focus of this committee to the Canadian and Latin American regions, growing the use of FIX and participation in FPL from the hedge fund community, coordinating effectively with the new working groups and finally, increasing networking opportunities for FPL members."
John Goeller of Lehman Brothers and Americas Regional Committee Co-Chair stated, "I am very pleased that Martin has been elected to co-chair the FPL Americas Committee with me. I've known him a number of years and feel his extensive experience and broad industry background will be a strong benefit to the FIX Protocol. I would also like to thank Nicole Goudey-Rigger for her dedication and service to the FIX Protocol and FPL Americas Committee."
