American Express names Ed Jay SVP, business insights

American Express today announced the appointment of Ed Jay to the position of Senior Vice President, American Express Business Insights, based in New York City.

Mr. Jay will be responsible for all aspects of this new global business designed to provide analytics and expertise to help companies make better business decisions.

In this role, Mr. Jay will lead American Express Business Insights, a line of business within the Global Merchant Services division, drawing on the power and reach of the Company's global network to help business customers develop better-informed strategies to grow their business. Business Insights provides a range of information offerings and consulting applications from identifying consumer spending trends to geographic expansion to improved marketing and advertising strategies. The Company has already achieved positive results for merchant customers in these areas.

Mr. Jay brings significant experience to his new position, including successful roles in consulting, strategy and product development within business-to-business operations. In his most recent position, Mr. Jay served as Global Head of Product Management and Development for the $2.4B Investment and Advisory division at Thomson Reuters. He will join the Senior Management Team of American Express Company and will report to Bill Glenn, President, American Express Global Merchant Services.

Prior to his tenure with Thomson Reuters, Mr. Jay successfully led information and consulting businesses including co-founding an industry leading strategy and technology professional services firm in Boston.
