Enrolling in Pay By Touch's free consumer biometric payment system just got easier. Today Pay By Touch launched its web enrolment service, a new online offering that allows customers to begin enrolment with just a few clicks of a mouse.
The new Pay By Touch one-time web enrolment takes just a couple of minutes. Shoppers begin by visiting the Pay By Touch Web site and entering their ID numbers and account numbers for their preferred financial accounts and loyalty cards. To complete the process, shoppers are presented with a list of nearby Pay By Touch retailers where they can quickly activate their Pay By Touch wallets by adding a finger scan and search number (usually a phone number).
Once complete, shoppers need only their finger to pay at a network of participating retailers across the country. They simply place their finger on a reader, enter their search number, and select from their previously-enrolled financial accounts to pay. The transaction is processed normally as if a card or cheque had been presented, and loyalty points are automatically recognised. The payment experience is faster, more convenient and more secure than presenting financial account numbers and personal-identifying information at the point of sale.
"One of the main goals at Pay By Touch is to provide customers and merchants with convenient solutions for secure payments," said John Rogers, founder, chairman, and CEO of Pay By Touch. "The web enrolment service supports those goals by catering to the habits and preferences of today’s technology-savvy consumers, while also maintaining a highly secure, user-friendly enrolment process."
Customers can still enrol for Pay By Touch at special kiosks in participating retail stores, which takes just a couple of minutes. Getting started online reduces the time at the kiosk to activate a Pay By Touch wallet to about 60 seconds.
Several merchants in the area already accept Pay By Touch payments – from grocery stores to nail salons, with more merchants signing up each week.
The Pay By Touch consumer biometric payment technology is also currently being rolled out into 82 Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. stores throughout South Carolina, and it has been operational in Washington State, Texas, New York and Wisconsin. Pay By Touch plans to launch in additional national retail chains later this year.
