Atos Worldline, which brings together Atos Origin's expertise in hi-tech transactional services, launches a new Banksys payment terminal dedicated to multilane retail solutions: the Yomani.

Designed as the preferred solution for countertop multilane applications in large retail, the terminal offers a USB interface that guarantees an easy connectivity with the electronic cash register (ECR) through a single-wire concept. Through its internal architecture, the new terminal also matches the multi-acquiring requirements set by the SEPA initiative.

The YOMANI has a memorable design with soft curves, a colour display and illuminated, clearly separated card interfaces. Its large colour display adds to its unique design. It enables payment applications at the check-out to leverage colour for information display, truly transforming the payment experience for consumers. Merchants can also use the colour display to customize communication with their customers.

The YOMANI can accept all types of cards: chip & pin, magnetic stripe and contactless cards. The optional contactless reader can be pre-installed or easily added to already deployed YOMANI terminals. It uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to read contactless devices and cards from a short distance. Payments with an NFC device are faster, while keeping the same level of security.

The terminal is built for ultimate security with its integrated privacy shield, its extensive internal security measures and its PCI PTS 2.x (formerly PCI PED) certification.

The name of the terminal is inspired by its multiple qualities: Ioma being Gaelic for multiple. The Y signals the start of a new era for the Atos Worldline range of payment terminals. The YOMANI is the first of a new series of terminals that are currently being developed by Atos Worldline.

"The YOMANI is the solution for retailers with an international presence, today and in the future", says Dirk De Cock, CEO of Atos Worldline in Belgium. "The terminal guarantees compatibility with the existing Atos Worldline range of payment terminals, enabling a re-use of existing applications developed for the XENTA, XENTISSIMO or XENTEO terminal."

Pilot projects are currently ongoing with selected partners.

The YOMANI terminal will be available in the spring of 2010.
