Visa International announced today the appointment of Matthew A. Piasecki as Chief Commercial Officer, effective 3 January 2005. In this newly created role, Piasecki will have direct responsibility for global strategy, consumer and commercial products, and innovation for Visa Worldwide Services, as well as acquisition / acceptance and operating regulations. Piasecki will be based in Foster City, California and will report to Christopher J. Rodrigues, President and Chief Executive Officer of Visa International.

Piasecki has experience working with leading global payments organizations and major card issuers in Europe and the United States and is well versed in the industry dynamics and product economics of all major types of credit and debit products and electronic cash.
Prior to joining Visa International, Piasecki served as president of Map Management Consulting Ltd., assisting international clients with strategy, business design innovation and cross-border expansion. Before that, he was senior vice-president and head of the UK financial services practice at Mercer Management Consulting.
