Syrinx Consulting, an IT consulting and software development firm that delivers easy-to-use .Net and SharePoint applications, today announced that Eastern Bank, the largest independent and mutually owned bank in New England, has engaged Syrinx for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) services.

Syrinx is working at Eastern Bank to assess a new externally-facing website used by personal, business and prospective customers, as an entry point into the bank's product and service offerings. Additionally, Syrinx is reviewing the MOSS Web content management system and providing training for the bank's IT and management staff to maintain the SharePoint application autonomously.

"Eastern Bank is committed to providing our customers with quality products and services," said Mark Leonard, vice president, database and data warehouse systems, Eastern Bank. "We selected Syrinx Consulting to review and finalize a new SharePoint-based web application based on the firm's excellent reputation and experience with financial service providers."

"Organizations of all sizes are working to optimize their existing SharePoint 2007 technology investments and deliver an array of Web applications with the platform. While cost-saving in many ways, this approach warrants careful execution and some SharePoint training to ensure long-term application success," said Andrew Gelina, CEO, Syrinx Consulting. "Eastern Bank is taking a best-practice approach to SharePoint delivery by engaging our architects to help review the new Web portal's architecture and disaster recovery provisions, address any issues, determine and document a maintenance schedule, and 'develop-mentor' their internal team to ultimately manage and expand the SharePoint environment."
