Epicor Software Corporation today announced that the Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) has signed a contract to implement Epicor Financial Management, a core suite within the next-generation Epicor enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.
SPPA administers the NHS and teachers' pension schemes in Scotland and handles £1.3bn annually in pension contributions.
"We initially looked at 16 financial systems and using our stringent purchasing criteria eventually concluded that Epicor met all of our requirements. These included the need for the system to handle high volumes of receipts, invoices, refunds and associated debt recovery processes; it also had to facilitate treasury management and budgetary reporting," said a spokesperson for the SPPA.
In addition: "We chose Epicor because we liked the modern look and feel of the system. We also liked the fact that workflows are incorporated as standard. However, we were particularly impressed with the way Epicor translated our unique requirements into a demonstrable product. The people we dealt with from Epicor were very professional throughout the whole process. It was very refreshing to meet only two people at the product demonstration, both were extremely knowledgeable about the product and had taken the time to tailor the system to our specific requirements."
Epicor financial management automates and streamlines an organisation's accounting processes with tools and controls to support complex legislative requirements and create value through timely financial monitoring. It supports the need for financial visibility regardless of company size.
SPPA will predominantly use Epicor's processes for cash receipts and debt recovery. The spokesperson explained: "The main benefits we expect to see from installing Epicor are increased levels of automation, tighter financial control and improved levels of customer service. Overall we plan to manage all of our processes more efficiently and effectively."
Epicor financial management is designed to tackle the requirements of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC initiatives), and has an inbuilt ability to manage highly unique and customised business processes through the use of embedded inter-locking engines. "We are delighted to be working with the SPPA to automate their processes and help them improve the accuracy and timely delivery of financial reports," said Roy Shooter, vice president sales for Epicor. "We are confident that SPPA will enjoy further benefits from their system such as greater business predictability, improved management of business risks, ultimately driving stakeholder confidence."
