SIX x-clear opens Stockholm office

SIX x-clear Ltd is intensifying its operations in Scandinavia by opening a new representative office in Stockholm and appointing Ann Flodström, a highly regarded clearing expert, as Head of Nordic Region.

The new local presence underscores SIX x-clear's commitment in Scandinavia, where the company will clear transactions as Central Counterparty (CCP) on the regulated Nasdaq OMX exchanges in Denmark, Finland and Sweden as of January 2010.

In her role as Head of Nordic Region, Ann Flodström will primarily focus on strengthening client relationships and supporting entities involved in clearing. In Ann Flodström, SIX x-clear is pleased to have found an industry and market pro with an excellent track record to manage and develop the Nordic markets. Ms Flodström's qualities as a clearing expert are well-attested.

As an advocate of Competitive Clearing, SIX x-clear hereby takes a further important step towards pan- European interoperability between CCPs. Freedom of choice and efficiency in the interest of the client are essential prerequisites for creating more competition in securities trading.

Alongside the existing clearing services provided to the London Stock Exchange (LSE), Nyfix Euromillenium and SIX Swiss Exchange, SIX x-clear is set to implement a series of new links for the most prominent multilateral trading systems and regulated exchanges. These include Chi-X, BATS, Nasdaq Europe, Liquidnet, Turquoise, Equiduct and Secfinex.
