Financial software provider BlackLine Systems has named long-time advisor to the company Greg Pond as executive vice president.

In his new position, Mr. Pond will add strength to the management team as the company continues on a rapid growth path domestically, while also looking to expand to new international markets with its flagship account reconciliation and financial close software suite.

Pond comes to BlackLine with nearly 40 years of operational and management experience in the software and financial services industries. Pond began his career as a programmer with various computer software companies. In 1975, he joined Wismer Associates, a start-up focusing on treasury systems. Four years later, he left to start his own business, ADS Associates, to focus on similar areas of need in the corporate treasury and financial services sectors. Pond built ADS over a period of 18 years into what became a major international player in the market for computer systems for banks, brokerage houses and Fortune 500 companies. Over time, Pond oversaw operations for ADS from offices in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

In 1997, ADS was purchased by SunGard Data Systems (now just SUNGARD), a significant player in all of the markets that ADS served. While with SunGard, Pond completed the acquisition of several other businesses globally, for which he retained operational responsibility in his capacity as Group CEO.

"Greg's extensive experience and knowledge having been involved in building several companies into international players will be a tremendous asset as we grow BlackLine globally in the next few years," Therese Tucker, CEO and founder, BlackLine Systems, said.

Pond and Tucker first met while working at ADS and have been business associates ever since. Pond has been comfortably retired from ADS/SunGard for the past six years, but has continued to serve in advisory roles and sits on several corporate and advisory boards.

"My current 'return to work' is motivated by my strong view that the team at BlackLine has done a wonderful job of getting the business up, running and rapidly growing and my belief that I can help Therese and the others achieve their objectives in the next several years," Pond said.

Pond graduated from the University of California, Irvine, in 1970 with a bachelor of arts degree in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science.
