Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment firm, launched today its most comprehensive online education center to date - and all of the content is free and available to any investor, not just Scottrade account holders.

The content, available at scottrade.com under the Knowledge Center tab, is designed to teach the public about the stock market and empower them to make their own investing decisions.

"We've pulled back the curtain to provide everyone - not only our current customer base - with information they can use to become better, more educated investors," said Director of Product Management and Development Kevin Dodson, who oversees Scottrade's customer education initiative. "In this financial climate, we are seeing more investors who want to take control and make smarter, faster trading and investing decisions on their own."

Featuring nearly 2,000 up-to-date educational articles and interactive tools, the Knowledge Center houses some of the most complete financial planning content available to the public. Anyone can access helpful and valuable information from the basics of stock trading to the most advanced subject matter and technical analysis. Webcasts, videos, quizzes and four interactive financial planning calculators are available to assist consumers with topics such as:

  • learning to calculate price/earnings ratio,
  • selecting an IRA type, and
  • estimating savings for retirement or sending a child to college.

"Scottrade places the same importance on education as it does offering affordable $7 trades, convenient branch offices and outstanding, consistent customer service," Dodson said. "Our Knowledge Center's abundance of content provides a new opportunity to learn about areas of investing or trading that people may have previously relied on a full-service broker to supply. Armed with this new knowledge, value-minded customers will be better equipped to make their own investment decisions."

The new online resource is part of Scottrade's ongoing commitment to education. In addition, Scottrade provides free User Summits and branch seminars across the country. Registration for Scottrade User Summits and branch seminars is available at scottrade.com/education.
