Luxembourg-based payments processor SIX Pay launches

SIX Pay S.A., an international partner for cashless payment solutions with headquarters in Luxembourg, commenced operations at the beginning of July.

In co-operation with the Luxembourg financial IT service provider CETREL S.A., Six Pay provides the secure acceptance and processing of credit cards from Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Diners/Discover as well as the debit cards V Pay and Maestro. For retailers and service providers throughout all of Europe, SIX Pay additionally offers leading-edge solutions for the handling of cashless payments at point of sales and on the Internet.

SIX Pay, a 100% subsidiary of the Swiss financial center company SIX Group, is licensed as a "Professionnels du Secteur Financier" (PSF) by the Luxembourg supervisory authority CSSF (Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier) and has Principle Member status at all relevant international card organizations. "The start-up of operations at our subsidiary in Luxembourg occurs against the background of our internationalization strategy and represents, after taking a 50% stake in CETREL, another step toward becoming a European financial center infrastructure partner," said Urs Rüegsegger, CEO of SIX Group.

SIX Pay positions itself as a European merchant service provider. This means SIX Pay allows its customers, on a European scale, to accept credit and debit cards in combination with integrated payment solutions, from state-of the-art POS payment terminals to various value-added services at point of sales. "We offer customers in all European markets, as well as pan-European retail and service chains, comprehensive solutions for cashless payments from a single source," stated Niklaus Santschi, Managing Director of SIX Pay.

SIX Pay plans to expand its activities within Europe in the coming years. To move closer to this goal, it intends to obtain a PSD license (Directive on Payment Services) in Luxembourg before the end of this year.
