Travelex, the world's largest foreign exchange company has today launched its Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) technology, Currency Select, in Japan in conjunction with UC Card Co. Ltd.

This is the first time DCC has been available in Japan and through the unrivalled network of UC Card, one of the largest Visa and MasterCard merchant acquirers in Japan, merchants and inbound travellers alike can now be rewarded with benefits previously unavailable across the country. The introduction of Travelex's Verifone terminals with DCC technology through UC Card across Japan will mean participating merchants can offer an even great level of service to customers and the customers have greater choice when it comes to paying for goods and services.

"This partnership between Travelex and UC Card brings together the global expertise in foreign exchange of Travelex and the dominance of UC Card as Japan's leading merchant acquirer" said Graham Perry, Managing Director of Travelex Global Card Services.

"We are honoured to be working along side such a respected business as UC Card and through our combined strengths, expect to see our Currency Select product be accepted quickly by the majority of 3.9 million merchants currently working with UC Card" added Mr Perry.

Ken Sakane, General Manager of Travelex Outsourcing Japan, said "the work that has gone into ensuring the first DCC offering in Japan is of the highest standard, has been relentless. Through this partnership with UC Card, Japanese businesses and visitors to Japan now have more choice than ever before. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with UC Card."

"For the first time, overseas visitors to Japan can choose to pay for goods and services in their home currency, giving them visibility as to the actual cost of their purchases which is extremely useful for budgeting in times of volatile exchange rates" added Mr Sakane.
