Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU), one of the nation's largest credit unions, and Trusteer, the customer protection company for online businesses, announced today that the Trusteer Rapport product is now being offered as a free download to PSECU's more than 350,000 members as an additional layer of protection for online banking sessions.

Rapport silently protects personal information entered by users in their Web browser, including usernames, passwords, account numbers, etc., from malicious software that may be hiding on the machine and redirection to look alike Web sites.

"Protecting members when they conduct business online with us and reducing fraud are two key concerns we wanted to address," said Eric Leighow, Director of IT Enterprise Operations of Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU). "The Rapport product from Trusteer is very easy to install, even for novice computer users, and has virtually no impact on system performance and the customer's user experience with our Web site. Most important, it prevents personal information from being stolen, in a way that complements existing security and anti-virus software present on the machine."

PSECU's Web site provides a full range of online banking services and resources including access to updated account information, bill payment, fund transfers between accounts, FICO scores, and loan applications. The Trusteer Rapport product secures personally identifiable information (PII) when PSECU members conduct business online using the Web site. It acts like a vault inside a user's Web browser to protect online transactions from malicious software resident on member computers, prevents redirection to fraudulent Web sites, and locks down communications during transmission.

"Online banking, like ATMs, provides additional convenience for customers and reduces costs for the financial institutions. However, just like in the physical world, this important self service channel is at risk from criminal schemes," said Mickey Boodaei, CEO of Trusteer. "The decision by Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, one of the leading credit unions in the U.S., to offer Rapport as a free service demonstrates their commitment to protecting customers, the value they place on Web banking, and the need to reduce losses from online account fraud."
