SS&C Technologies, a global provider of financial services software and software-enabled services, today announced it has acquired the assets and related business associated with Unisys Corporation's Maximis software, investment accounting software designed to meet the regulatory and management reporting needs of large finance and insurance companies and public pension funds.

MAXIMIS is a real-time, intranet-enabled investment accounting application with comprehensive support for domestic and international securities trading.

"With the acquisition of MAXIMIS, SS&C broadens its commitment to the institutional asset management business," said Bill Stone, chairman and chief executive officer, SS&C Technologies, Inc. "We feel this transaction represents an excellent strategic fit, and we expect it will create new opportunities to sell to existing and new clients."

SS&C will continue to support the MAXIMIS system and integrate the MAXIMIS workforce with other SS&C experts to deliver an enhanced customer experience.

"Pacific Life is pleased to learn of SS&C's investment in the MAXIMIS program and is looking forward to building a strong relationship with them. SS&C has been a leader in investment management solutions and in particular, insurance investment management technology," said Rick Vrieling, vice president, Investment Management division, Pacific Life Insurance Company. "SS&C's expertise coupled with MAXIMIS' robust functionality should lead to increased functionality and excellent customer support for us."
