Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that Gasodata has selected the Artema Modular EMV payment terminal for installation at fuel retailers throughout Portugal.

The rollout and installation of over 700 Artema Modular kits integrated with Dresser Wayne pay-at-the-pump systems has already begun. The PCI-certified unattended payment terminal will be used for chip and magnetic stripe cards, supporting debit, credit and other private label card schemes. All transaction data is transmitted via an IP module which is installed in the pump system.

"There is an escalating demand for high security self-service payment solutions and we are meeting that demand head-on with Artema Modular," said Kazem Aminaee, Managing Director, Southern Europe, Hypercom Corporation. "Gasodata's selection of the Artema Modular, with application software developed by Hypercom partner GFI Portugal, validates the advantages of our unattended product for the petrol retail sector."

Rui Nogueira, Director Electronic Payment Solutions at GFI Portugal, added, "We are focused on providing payment solutions to Portugal's integrators and retailers, based on the highest level of security and the broadest set of functionality. We are able to provide these by combining our local application expertise, sales and support network with Hypercom's high-technology product platform."
