Broadridge Financial Solutions (NYSE:BR) today announced that it has "gone live" on the Swift MX Proxy Voting Messaging Suite - a new set of MX messages that automates the entire proxy voting lifecycle.
The SWIFT proxy messages cover the complete end-to-end information and action flows between issuers, their agents, and parties holding the right to vote. These messages include the announcement, voting and result dissemination process.
The SWIFT messages, which meet the ISO20022 messaging standard, are available to Broadridge's institutional investor clients. They can be used to receive meeting notifications; register for meeting participation; appoint a proxy or meeting attendee; register securities and/or cast an actual vote. Broadridge's SWIFT MX service supports voting in meetings held worldwide, including the U.S. and Canada. The service leverages Broadridge's SWIFT Service Bureau.
"Broadridge's long-term commitment to our proxy voting solution has enabled the successful development of the solution," said Linda Bookheim, Global Market Manager, Custody and Asset Servicing, SWIFT. "We are delighted that, as a leader in proxy voting processing, Broadridge is now ready to send and receive live traffic in advance of the 2009 proxy season. This is a very important milestone in the industry's quest to improve efficiencies in the cross-border voting process."
"Broadridge has led the effort with SWIFT to develop this new electronic messaging standard for the financial industry, and we fully expect to continue playing an integral role in the development of forward-thinking proxy solutions that allow clients to focus on their core business and minimize time spent on administrative tasks," said Elizabeth Maiellano, Senior Director, Institution Product Strategy, Broadridge. "By introducing SWIFT messaging to clients in the U.S., Canada and the other markets we serve around the globe, Broadridge is building on over 10 years of international experience as a leader in proxy management."
