NCR Corporation today announced that Solutran, a leading provider of treasury management services, will market and resell NCR's check-image capture software, called ImageMark Passport, to Solutran's corporate clients in the United States. The integration of Solutran's transaction management system with NCR's ImageMark Passport software will allow corporate cash offices to take advantage of the same high-quality imaging technology that banks now use to process checks.
Solutran's customers will now be able to capture data from checks at the location where they are received and use the faster image-based technology in the back office for payment processing. The combined offer will provide a complete check depository solution to corporate cash offices, lowering handling costs, improving accuracy and speeding up the settlement of check payments for corporate clients. These customers will be able to take full advantage of the benefits of the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21), which permits the transmission of check images in place of actual paper checks in the check-clearing process.
Solutran provides depository, return-check processing and various check conversion services including Electronic Check Representment (RCK), Point of Purchase (POP) and Accounts Receivable Conversion (ARC) to businesses that process high volumes of consumer payment transactions. The company's more than 300 clients include several of the nation's leading retailers, direct marketers and consumer product manufacturers.
ImageMark Passport will capture, consolidate and guarantee receipt of the check and image data files from multiple locations to Solutran's transaction management system. Solutran will integrate the various transaction information from multiple image-capture sites, evaluate them based on the clients' payment needs and route them on behalf of their corporate client to the most cost-effective payment mechanism. The payment mechanism could be automated clearing house (ACH) for electronic presentment or an image replacement document (IRD) under Check 21 rules. ImageMark Passport also enables Solutran to centrally manage its clients' multiple remote-capture locations.
Dave Roy, vice president of business development for Solutran, said, "NCR adds a critical element to our product suite. We can now offer our corporate clients a complete check conversion and depository solution supported by Solutran's comprehensive returns-management system. We are ready today for the transition to substitute checks and will be prepared to support full image-exchange settlement in the very near future."
Joe Kniceley, vice president of NCR Payment Solutions America's region, said, "Combining Solutran's treasury management services with our ImageMark Passport Solutions offers the highest-quality imaging capabilities for Solutran's corporate customers. Corporate and merchant treasurers will now be able to better manage their depository activity and the cash position of their companies."
