Data Explorers, the world's most complete source of data, analysis and insight into short-selling and securities financing, today announced the appointment of Lee Olesky as Chairman of its Board, effective March 25th, 2009.
Olesky, CEO of Tradeweb, succeeds Bill Cuthbert, who remains a member of the Board.
In 2008, Olesky was named one of the 'Top 20 international leaders and innovators in Online Finance' by Institutional Investor magazine. In the past decade, Olesky has transformed two fixed-income electronic brokers from start-ups into successful global businesses, most recently as co-founder and CEO of Tradeweb, a leading over-the-counter, multi-asset class online marketplace and a pioneer in the development of electronic trading. Prior to Tradeweb, Olesky was the founder and CEO of BrokerTec, an electronic inter-dealer broker (sold to ICAP in 2003). Olesky has also worked in a number of management positions at Credit Suisse First Boston.
Donal Smith, CEO of Data Explorers, says: "We are delighted to welcome Lee as a part of our Board. His depth and experience in leading high growth companies in new financial market segments, and background in increasing a company's international focus will be extremely valuable as Data Explorers seeks to strengthen our global presence."
Commenting on his move to Data Explorers, Olesky says: "I look forward to joining the Board of Data Explorers at a time when clarity about short interest and securities financing is increasingly in demand worldwide. I am confident that Data Explorers has a huge opportunity to expand its brand globally and enhance its range of technical offerings that provide financial institutions with the data needed to make informed investment decisions."
