Swift, the financial messaging provider for more than 8,500 institutions, has announced the appointment of Patrick Curtin as Head of Securities Initiatives - Americas.
He will report to Chris Church, Chief Executive of the Americas and Global Head of Securities, and will be a member of the Americas Management Team.
As Head of Securities Initiatives, Patrick, 46, will expand SWIFT's securities business in the Americas region and partner with key clients on securities-related projects and initiatives. In this role, he will ensure SWIFT continues to demonstrate leadership in the sector, supporting straight-through processing throughout the trade cycle. He will be responsible for collaboration with industry bodies, such as ISITC and SIFMA, and securities market infrastructures, where he will build on the co-operative's shared infrastructure and vast community to develop new offerings, aiming to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs for the industry. Additionally, he will work with the Securities Steering Committee of the SWIFT Board of Directors and the SWIFT Markets Group to ensure that key drivers for the Americas help shape the Global Securities strategy.
Patrick has 23 years of experience in the securities industry. Prior to joining SWIFT, he spent 12 years at The Bank of New York Mellon as Executive Vice President, Global Securities Services, where he oversaw the firm's global custody, clearance, securities lending, foreign exchange, cash management and agency securities execution businesses. In this role, he was responsible for the firm's relationships with Investment Managers, Insurance Companies, Broker-Dealers, Banks and Corporate clients.

Prior to his role at The Bank of New York Mellon, Patrick sertrick served as a Managing Director in Investment Information & Analytics at Chase Manhattan Bank. He was also a Manager of Pension Investments with Warner Lambert Company for three years with responsibility for managing all aspects of the company's $8 billion in retirement assets. Previously, Patrick served as the Director of Fixed Income - Pensions & Insurance for Sedgwick James, Inc.
Patrick earned a BBA degree in Finance & Economics from CUNY Baruch College and an MBA degree in Finance from Long Island University in Brooklyn. He also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
