The agreement with Capita Life & Pensions Services is an initial three-year framework with a view to a wider ongoing commercial relationship. Micro Focus products will be used in strategic modernisation projects supporting the realisation of significant cost benefits by migrating some core administration systems off the mainframe to more contemporary Windows environments.

Capita selected Micro Focus on account of its significant experience of such projects and its extensive application management and modernisation product portfolio. Products to be used for upcoming migrations include Micro Focus Revolve®, Micro Focus COBOL®, Mainframe Express® and Open PL/I.

Craig Rodgerson, IT Director, Capita Life & Pensions Services, said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of Micro Focus. The ability to modernise existing systems on contemporary platforms is key to providing an effective administration service for our clients in the future."

"This is the start of a long and fruitful relationship for both companies," added David Stephenson, UK Country General Manager, Micro Focus. "In a time of economic uncertainty, our products and expertise will enable Capita to drive greater efficiencies by maximising the value of their existing IT."
