Telus today announced that it has begun implementing its Telus Mobile Banking system at one of Canada's leading financial institutions, ATB Financial (ATB).
The implementation will begin with a short pilot prior to being rolled out to all ATB customers, providing them with easy and immediate access to secure information and account management via text messaging (SMS) or mobile web.
The TELUS Mobile Banking system provides financial institutions with a convenient and easy way to help their customers to do their banking on the go. The service seamlessly and securely integrates with the financial institution's current system, enabling it to process millions of requests per day. At ATB, TELUS will begin this integration process in two phases: first, a trial stage which will run 90 days, followed by a full production of mobile services.
"With over 20 million mobile subscribers in Canada, time-pressed consumers are quickly adopting the mobile device as yet another transaction channel to help manage their busy lifestyles," says Ismail Pishori, TELUS vice-president, financial services. "In this competitive market, successful financial institutions need to go that extra mile to retain existing customers and attract new ones by providing convenient, reliable and easy access to their services. At TELUS, we are excited to be working with ATB Financial to help them raise the bar in the innovative ways they work with their customers."
By adopting TELUS Mobile Banking, ATB Financial customers will be able to use their mobile devices to view account balances, see recent transactions and transfer funds using virtually any mobile phone's existing messaging software and mobile web capabilities.
"ATB Financial recognizes that if you truly want to set yourself apart from the competition, you need to complement your current suite of online services and expand your capabilities," says Mike Redeker, vice-president and chief technology officer, ATB Financial. "The customer experience is of the utmost importance to us, and as customers become more comfortable with mobile technologies, services such as TELUS Mobile Banking become crucial in winning the race to meet evolving consumer needs."
