Tsys announced today that it has signed a payments processing agreement with Tarjetas Unisoluciones S.A. DE C.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Unibanco Brasil, for the launch of its Unicard México consumer card portfolio.

The portfolio will be the first to utilize TSYS' industry leading TS2 platform in Mexico.

"TSYS' track record in the Mexican card market made it the obvious choice as our partner to grow our credit card business in Mexico," said Claudio Yamaguti, head of Unibanco's expansion into Mexico. "We feel that its premier technology and reputation for excellent customer service will help us achieve growth and profitability in our credit card portfolio."

"We have spent more than 15 years establishing ourselves as the processor of choice in Mexico," said M. Troy Woods, president and chief operating officer of TSYS. "A client of Unibanco's size and stature choosing TSYS and our world-class TS2 platform is a testament to our continuing long-term success in the region."

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
