Equens SE, one of Europe's largest and most innovative payment processors, covering more than 15% of the European acquiring market, and OpenWay, provider of the WAY4 payment processing software solution, have launched the new Sepa-compliant acquiring back-office based on WAY4.

Equens commented that, although the project was complex and had to meet demanding timescales requiring implementation within 6 months, they consider the implementation to be a great success and are confident that it will provide a sound technology base to support future innovation as part of the European wide SEPA programme.

To meet SEPA requirements, Equens was looking for a powerful and flexible processing platform, with the capability to adapt products to new markets easily and to introduce international brands, while coping with volume growth and maximising the efficiency of operational costs. Another need was to offer tailor-made products to its merchants. Having considered several alternatives, Equens decided to rely on the high-level expertise and proven experience of the OpenWay team and its market leading WAY4 software.

Wim Pardon, Managing Director of OpenWay Belgium, said, "The flexibility and reliability of WAY4 solutions and the high quality of our system support services have been already acknowledged by many financial institutions, payments processors and telecommunication companies operating on different continents. Our cooperation with technology leaders assures our place at the forefront of the latest technologies. We are proud that Equens has selected our WAY4 solution, which will certainly help Equens to introduce new value-added services".

Equens already serves 50,000 merchants via the WAY4 platform and expects significant business growth.
