OTC Valuations Limited (OTC Val), a leading provider of independent derivatives valuation and risk reports for illiquid and hard-to-value securities, structured products, and exotic derivatives, has strengthened its team with the appointment of Dr. Paul Bergbusch to lead the organization's technology function.

Dr. Bergbusch joins OTC Val as Chief Technology Officer, and will lead the effort to introduce the next generation of solutions further expanding the coverage for structured products and exotic derivatives under the OTC Val portfolio. He will be based in Vancouver.

As an expert in financial derivatives and systems engineering, Dr. Bergbusch brings a wealth of data analysis, derivatives modeling and systems development experience for pricing and processing all derivatives products. He holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Particle Physics from the University of British Columbia.

Paul comes to the OTC Val team from BlueCrest Capital Management, one of the largest hedge funds in Europe. As head quantitative analyst for the equity derivatives desk, he was responsible for the modeling of volatility products, the development and analysis of trading strategies, and front office system integration. Paul has also held roles in systems architecture and software engineering at Macdonald Dettwiler, an aerospace engineering firm, and quantitative research and software development for exotic interest rate and fixed income products at FINCAD.

Paul Bergbusch said: "Before joining OTC Val I reviewed the market for independent derivatives valuations and realized that structured products and exotic derivatives are not being handled in a transparent and scalable way. OTC Val's breadth of product coverage and automated solution address these problems and introduce new levels of transparency and efficiency into what was once a murky and labor-intensive process.

"OTC Val is well positioned to become the market leader for providing independent valuations of structured products and exotic derivatives. The recent market turmoil and the push towards increasing regulation of the derivatives markets highlight the need for independent and transparent pricing. OTC Val has an opportunity to add significant value to the operations of financial markets."

Bob Sanghaob Sangha, COO, OTC Val, comments: "Paul brings a wealth of experience in quantitative research and technology development. I am delighted that OTC Val will be able to benefit from his exceptional experience and knowledge as a front office quant and systems architect with the ability to understand complex mathematical models and develop mission-critical systems.

"The fact that Paul joined OTC Val is also a great compliment to our service offering. His deep knowledge of data, models, and systems will enable OTC Val to deliver flexible and responsive solutions."
