Rimes Technologies, the financial data integrator for the global investment market, and MSCI Barra, a leading provider of investment decision support tools to investment institutions worldwide, have agreed that Rimes SmartFiles will be integrated in BarraOne, a global, multi-asset class portfolio risk and performance attribution platform.

Institutional investors use BarraOne to identify the drivers of risk in their portfolios and to produce daily and monthly risk reports along multiple investment dimensions and asset classes.

RIMES SmartFiles streamline and simplify the use of multiple sources of proprietary data, combining data servicing, integration and quality assurance. BarraOne users will have access to the entire range of global and local benchmarks available on the RIMES platform, covering equities, fixed income, commodities, and Islamic indices.

The research, creation, updating, validation and delivery of the data files will be carried out by RIMES. All the required data sources will be integrated in BarraOne, ready to be used via Barra PartnerLink, so that users will not have to experience any operational efforts to check data feeds or manage queries with suppliers.

BarraOne is provided by MSCI Barra, whose products include indices and portfolio risk and performance analytics for use in managing equity, fixed income and multi-asset class portfolios.

Christian Fauvelais, Chief Executive Officer and Co-President of RIMES Technologies commented: "We are delighted to make SmartFiles available on BarraOne. Investors will now be able to combine BarraOne's leading analytics with RIMES' extensive benchmark coverage to support their entire investment process".

Roveen Bhansali, Managing Director and Head of the Analytics Business at MSCI Barra, said: "Integrating RIMES data into BarraOne shows our continued commitment to provide our clients with a deep set of high-quality data essential for portfolio analysis. Both Risk and Performance Attribution clients will benefit from the robust set of local market indices now available directly in BarraOne from RIMES".
