Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that PayLife Bank GmbH, a joint venture of Austrian banks and savings banks and the leading acquiring and issuing company in Austria, has selected and will deploy thousands of Artema Mobile payment terminals in Austria.

Hypercom's Artema Mobile was chosen for this multi-million dollar purchase to replace the currently installed mobile terminals as well as for new customer projects. The Artema Mobile, which benefits from GPRS communication technology, will be sold by PayLife as the "Mobile Bankomat-Kasse." The terminal is designed to process the Austrian electronic purse "Quick" as well as credit and debit cards.

"PayLife is Austria's preeminent payment provider, and their choice of Artema Mobile is a strong endorsement that recognizes the product's competitive advantages and further strengthens our footprint in Western Europe," said Peter Ehlers, Managing Director, Northern Europe, Hypercom Corporation.

The selection follows PayLife's introduction last year of Hypercom's Artema Hybrid payment terminal, which is now in use at thousands of retail locations in the country.

Separately, Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that Intermarche, one of France's leading retailers with almost 1,500 retail outlets, has installed and is successfully using Hypercom's Wymix® PIN pad with contactless reader as part of the Payez Mobile trial for NFC payments in two test sales outlets in Caen and Strasbourg. The Payez Mobile trial was launched in November 2007 by seven major banks and three mobile operators in France united in the Association Européenne Payez Mobile. It has confirmed that there is a significant consumer interest in payment by mobile phone.

"Our top priority is to create the best shopping experience for our consumers and we are doing that with Hypercom's Wymix contactless PIN pad," said Hugues Poingant, Intermarché operators in charge of payment for Les Mousquetaires, Intermarche. "Contactless payment offers an innovative, simple, fast and convenient alternative at the checkout, and we are pleased to participate in this important trial."

"Intermarche's use of Hypercom's high security contactless payment prodroduct, fully integrated with the Wynid server-based payment solution, brings added convenience for consumers who want the speed and security of faster check-out lines," said Kazem Aminaee, Managing Director, Southern Europe, Hypercom Corporation.

Separately, Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that its Wymix PIN pad has received MasterCardPayPass certification. The Wymix PIN pad with built-in antenna can be used to process payments made by contactless cards as well as NFC-enabled mobile phones.

Contactless payments provide key benefits to retailers and consumers in high transaction volume environments where speed is of the essence, including hypermarkets, quick-service restaurants and gas stations. The processing time for contactless transactions is considerably shorter than for contact card transactions, and the added convenience and efficiency this provides is beneficial to both cardholders and merchants. Additionally, the speed provided by contactless technology is projected to help drive the increased use of loyalty and other value-add applications.

Interest in contactless payment programs in France is high, and several pilots are in progress throughout the country, organized by banks and mobile phone operators. As a result of these test programs, the Wymix PIN pad incorporating contactless technology has been installed in pilots at two major retailers. One of those, the leading French retailer Intermarché with almost one thousand five hundred supermarkets throughout the country, has been using the Wymix PIN pad in a contactless pilot that started in July.

"More and more leading French retailers are committed to deploying the most innovative and cost effective electronic transaction solutions in their stores, and the speed, security and convenience of contactless payments offer them and their customers faster check-out times and an improved payment experience," said Kazem Aminaee, Managing Director, Southern Europe Region, Hypercom Corporation.

Hypercom's Wymix PIN pad incorporates a chip card and magnetic stripe reader designed for integration with cash register systems at the point of sale. Already used at many thousands of points of sale throughout France, the Wymix has been upgraded to support payment with contactless cards or NFC-enabled phones.
