Steria names Mark Cook UK chief operating officer

Steria, the European IT enabled, business services company, has announced the appointment of Mark Cook as UK chief operating officer. Reporting directly to UK CEO, John Torrie, Mark will have full responsibility for the commercial performance of the UK business units, focusing on increasing sales and delivery accountability.

In his new position, Mark will be working with a team of 150 sales executives to develop sales growth, improve operating principles and ensure continued excellence in customer service. He will be directly responsible for the delivery of IT and BPO services utilising 10,000 people across the UK and India.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark said, "I'm very pleased to take on this important role. It's an exciting time for Steria as we look to consolidate our integrated offering and I look forward to playing my part in helping to drive better value and increased benefits for our UK client base."

Mark joined Xansa in 1997 and became part of the Steria UK team following the former's acquisition in 2007. He previously held the position of managing director for the commercial sector, where he was responsible for a €300 million business unit with 2,000 employees in UK and India, covering IT and BPO contracts across the Retail, Utilities, Logistics and Media sectors. He has worked on projects for several high profile brands including the BBC and Alliance Boots, and prior to joining Xansa, undertook senior management roles in international businesses including Raychem and Texaco.
