Rapid Addition's Houstoun re-elected to FIX Protocol Global Technical Committee

Rapid Addition, a provider of FIX-enabled securities transaction message technology, has today announced that its chairman, Kevin Houstoun, has been re-elected as co-Chair of the Financial Information eXchange Protocol Ltd (FPL) Global Technical Committee for a second term by a peer group of respected figures from the global securities technology industry.

Houstoun will continue to work alongside Matt Simpson of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Group) as Global Technical Committee (GTC) co-chair. Along with his roles at Rapid Addition and FPL, Mr Houstoun is a retained consultant to HSBC Investment Bank and acts as its representative on the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) Global Technical Committee. The GTC oversees such initiatives as FIX implementation guidance, information security and communication with other standards bodies. Mr Houstoun is also an active member of the FPL Global Steering Committee.

During his time as co-chair, Houstoun has led the following initiatives: FIX 5.0 which addresses the needs of exchanges; transport independence; and FAST 1.1.

Rapid Addition is a provider of high-performance FIX-related financial messaging products and services for the buy-side, sell-side and trading execution venues. The firm is an active contributor to development of FIX and FAST (FIX Adapted for STreaming) Protocols and is an active partner of the Microsoft High Performance Computing Team.

Kevin Houstoun has nearly twenty five years' experience in the financial services industry as a technologist and business leader and is a leading innovator in securities messaging technology. After starting his career with KPMG, he worked at Robert Flemings and in 1999 joined the European Equity Electronic Trading Team at Salomon Brothers, now part of Citigroup. He helped to establish the FIX (Financial Information Exchange) Protocol in Europe.
