SmartStream Technologies, the Transaction Lifecycle Management specialist, has announced that Brandes Investment Partners has gone live with TLM Reconciliations as its enterprise-wide reconciliations platform.

Brandes, based in San Diego, California, manages equity and fixed income assets for institutional and private clients worldwide, with more than $117 billion in assets under management. The firm has deployed TLM Reconciliations to help manage its diverse portfolio, increasing control and visibility in the transaction lifecycle through more efficient reconciliation and exception management processes.

Walt Czerminski, Head of Information Systems and Technology, Brandes Investment Partners, said: “With our large number of accounts, a comprehensive reconciliation solution represents high tangible value to our business. TLM Reconciliations provides the ability to drive a unified matching process with its flexible data model and advanced workflow capabilities. We are able to automate booking of flow-through transactions back to our portfolio accounting application in a closed workflow loop. TLM’s capabilities have a direct and visible impact on our firm’s operational efficiency.”

Richard Balk, Director of Operations, Brandes Investment Partners, said: “When we implemented SmartStream’s TLM, we started with about 50% of our institutional accounts. The manual entry of posting transactions is now replaced by auto posting of high frequency transactions, resulting in an 80% decrease in processing time.”

Lou Longhi, Managing Director – Americas, SmartStream Technologies, said: “As both the institutional and Separately Managed Account (SMA) businesses continue to grow strongly, many investment managers are looking to build up their operational controls for these products and offer improved customer service. TLM’s flexible, generic data model and rich workflow capabilities ensure firms can drive out inefficiencies, supporting higher volumes and creating exceptions-based processes that increase transparency throughout the transaction lifecycle. We are very pleased that Brandes has recognised these capabilities to support their business strategy and named SmartStream as their strategic supplier for reconciliations.”
