Integrated Bank Technology (IBT), a company that specializes in engineering software for financial institutions, recently announced the integration of its Integrated Image Teller with the Unisys SmartSource Series to offer customers the opportunity to operate their check-scanning operations in their existing thin client environment for significant savings on administration, support, hardware and upgrade costs, as well as enhanced security.

The benefits of this partnership will be showcased at the BAI Retail Delivery Conference and Expo in Orlando, Fla. The presentation will take place on Nov. 20, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The integration of Unisys and IBT technology supports the industry's shift toward more efficient Web-based networking environments. IBT's Integrated Image Teller software converts checks into electronic transactions, enabling companies to process payments electronically. By creating "virtual tickets," the application helps institutions eliminate paper needs and the costs associated with the management of internal document inventory. With significant reduction in encoding read failures, Integrated Image Teller improves processing time and reduces back office personnel needs.

Unisys SmartSource series is an advanced line of scanners that processes checks and other payment items remotely at faster speeds and in a more efficient and secure operating environment. Unisys SmartSource series offers three models to suit any financial environment, including small retail businesses with low check volumes, to back office capture to handle large volume of checks and other documents. Upfront, immediate image capture allows customers to more quickly identify item defects (e.g., a folded corner in a check image), save time in corrections and help improve fraud detection. In addition, its "on-board intelligence" can process items across an Ethernet network independent of a local PC. On-board processing can help reduce security risks by performing quality decisions, image security and digital signature -- all at the time of capture.

"Integration with Unisys' advanced line of image devices is part of our overall focus on providing our clients with the industry's most innovative technology," said Mike Golebiowski, president of IBT. "SmartSource series and Integrated Image Teller operating within a thin client environment will streamline management of large networks of devices, modernize software, improve security and monitor overall performance. We look forward to the technology and support services Unisys offers to strengthen the value of Integrated Image Teller in the market."
