Obopay, the pioneering service provider for payments via mobile phones, today announced the appointment of Spencer Fong as Vice President, Engineering.
Fong brings more than 23 years of software design, computer programming and patent activity experience to his role overseeing Obopay's mobile payments network infrastructure and mobile applications, as well as the research and development of new technology.
"This has been a year of substantial growth and ever-increasing momentum for Obopay," said Obopay President, U.S.-based Operations Gregory Holmes. "Spencer's depth of technical expertise and specific banking services experience will prove invaluable as we continue to expand our mobile payment offerings."
Prior to his arrival at Obopay, Fong served as VP, Engineering for Digital Insight, an Intuit Company focused on providing online banking services to banks and credit unions. Fong was also VP, Engineering at Teknowledge Corporation, where he focused on developing solutions to aggregate customer information for the financial services industry.
Prior, Fong focused on self-service software consulting and application development as a Principal Project Manager with Edify Corporation, and served as a senior staff member Charles Schwab's Technology Solutions department.
Fong began his career with IBM and is an entrepreneur in his own right, founding Financial Internet Solutions, where he presented business and technical plans to venture capital firms to develop Internet banking software. Fong is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, and holds a Master's degree from Stanford University.
