ABN AMRO customers can as of today invest online in options listed on the US stock exchanges (NYSE and Nasdaq). ABN AMRO is the first bank in the Netherlands to offer this service to its customers. Initially, the service will cover the 25 most widely traded options, such as IBM, Hewlett Packard, General Electric and Microsoft, but in due course, the service will be expanded to include other option series that are listed on the US stock exchanges.

The online option investment service is intended for experienced option investors. ABN AMRO has over 100,000 option investors and 47% of the securities orders that the bank receives are placed via the internet. This represents an increase of 10% relative to 2003. In the Netherlands 2004 is the first year that online orders exceed orders placed through the bank’s branches or by telephone.
